PREMIERE: Ukrainian rapper Roman Stark demands to be seen on “Visible Side”

It was in 2012, when then-student Roman Stark popped on a Soundcloud beat his friend had posted to Facebook, and for the first time, reached for a note-book and a pen.  An immigrant from Ukraine, Stark channels the stories of his country, and his new home of NYC, on the brand new single “Visible Side”. It has been a few years since Stark arrived to JFK Airport with $300 in his pocket, and everyday has been a reminder that the American Dream is earned with sweat and determination.

He says about “Visible Side”:

“On the streets of NYC we pass by thousands of people, and each one has a unique story to share. Some stories are told proudly, others with regret or shame. I’m blessed to have a gift to do it in a poetic way.”

“Thanks to climate change, natural disasters, from tornadoes to hurricanes to wildfires, are so frequent that it’s possible to become desensitized to their impact. For Cipherella, however, it’s impossible to shake the devastation Mother Nature wreaked on her life in 2011. After she and her mother lost their Tuscaloosa, Alabama home to a tornado, she decided to take a leap, move to New York, and create music. It has certainly paid off: Cipherella’s now the host for New York’s NuYorican’s Poets café and working on moving music that sits with listeners.”

NYC-based, prog/metal project, Orissa, premieres the lyric video, “Tara” on Guitar Player!

Orissa mastermind — and “almost” one-man band — David Dodini is sharing this exclusive video premiere of his song “Tara” from his upcoming Resurrection album, due November 3, 2017.

A graduate (with honors) of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a Masters Degree from the Biella Conservatory’s Scuola Niccolo Paganini in Biella, Italy, Dodini ultimately pushed his strict classical training to the side in order to explore the cross pollination of multiple styles, such as jazz, Balkan, prog, metal, and folk rhythms. Throughout all the tracks on Resurrection—which was funded with the assistance of a $20,000 Kickstarter campaign—Dodini played all the instruments, with the exception of drums, which were performed by Jason Gianni (drummer for Trans Siberian Orchestra, Neal Morse, Book of Mormon).

Complex featured EverythingOShauN’s new EP Almost Everything.

After a steady string of releases in the last year, Brampton’s EverythingOShauN had unleashed his second EP entitled Almost Everything. The six-track effort clocks in at a nimble ~20-minute listen and runs the gamut of soulful, slow-rolling trap to OShauN’s own take on trendy “flute rap” on the final track “Fruits.”
